Passage: John 15:9-25
Verse: John 15:12 (NIV 2011)
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
It really is all about love. We want it! We need it! As we live life, we seek to be loved and accepted for who we are. Often we search and are driven to fill the emptiness that we feel inside with things, or money, or prestige, or power, or pleasures. We still come up feeling empty. Today’s passage of Scripture tells us that there is no greater love than for someone to lay down his or her life for a friend. Jesus Christ did that for us. He died for us. He has shown us what real love is. He has invited us into His inner circle… to be His friend. May we love others in the same way that Jesus has loved us. May we help others find the love of the Father, through Christ, that we each have found as followers of Jesus. There is no greater joy, nothing more valuable, no power so great, and no honor or pleasure so wonderful than to truly love… and be loved. May you sense the love of God today, through the name of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. (inspired by Reflecting God – Devotions for Holy Living, WordAction Publishing Company)
